Pipistrel wins the CAFE Green Flight Challenge and is awarded the richest prise in aviation histoty, $1,350.000. It took a year to design and six months to build this unusual aircraft called the Taurus G4. The G4 is an electric aircraft that can carry four people 300 miles a speeds over 100 mph. This was truly a landmark achievement for electric flight.
This ATOS glider is powered by a 25 hp, 160cc rotary motor can me converted back to a non-powered hang glider at any time. At this point Toruk Lucarelli the designer/pilot has only made the two test flights shown in the "YouTube" video. He plans to continue refining this design by adding retractable landing gear, folding prop and improving the fairing.
