Miles Hilton-Barber accompanied by his co-pilot Richard "Storm" Meredith-Hardy landed their Mainair Quik GT450 trike, in Sydney, Australia on Monday after completing a 13,500 mile cross-country flight from London. Hilton-Barber, 58, is totally blind, he has always wanted to be a pilot and now he has flown more than halfway around the world.
His trike is equipped with 100HP Rotax engine and a custom 160 liter fuel tank which provides the aircraft has a cruise speed of 70 knots and a very long range.
Hilton-Barber is hoping that his trip will help raise $1-million for "Seeing is Believing," a program that works towards the restoration of sight for blind people in developing countries.
